Product Manager, KOHLER Gasoline Engines

Leadership and P&L responsibility for the Commercial Gas >15HP gasoline engine category. Scope of responsibility is worldwide. Key duties include:
- Develop and execute the Product Lifecycle Strategy for Commercial Gas >15HP
- Product pricing
- Promotion planning and execution
- Create product specifications and program charters to provide guidance to engine development teams
- Meet or exceed annual net sales and net income targets for the category
Develop Product Strategies
define, develop and execute projects for new product platforms, product extensions, and enhancements over the product life cycle
develop product strategies covering market trends, business cycles, segmentation, competitors, pricing, packaging, advertising, promotion, and distribution
maintain products to meet changing customer requirements and regulations
Assess the Market
collect and assess information to judge market reaction to product, price and promotion
track and predict market growth and share estimates for global and regional markets
identify and track actions of key competitors
develop and grow key relationships with OEMs, retailers, distributors and dealers
set optimal pricing based upon competitive pricing, market information, customer requirements and in consideration of segment profitability
identify areas for margin improvement through specification consolidation, costs savings initiatives, and price adjustments
publish pricing for internal and external requirements
provide marketing support to sales including communication of value proposition and publication of the product option catalog
coordinate development of presentation materials, literature, merchandising, website information, digital assets, videos and social promotions for the category
support trade show activities, PR efforts and other advertising initiatives to promote products.
Own & Improve Financial Results
work with customers and Kohler sales to grow unit sales and revenue
understand the cost structure of the assigned product line and develop initiatives to reduce costs without sacrificing quality, performance or customer perception
track and maximize profits on a customer basis
measure success based on financial results
Coordinate Information and Activities
ensure communication of product line strategies and issues to all internal stakeholders
direct all internal marketing activities related to new product development and current product improvement programs – specifically owning the product charters, program funding requisitions and product launch plans for the segment
elevate major issues to business leaders when required
support development of strategic plans, development plans, financial plans and capital plans for the segment
own the 5-year product roadmap, customer action plan and product volume plan for the segment
develop business cases for new products and significant product improvements
develop action plans to grow market share in target regions
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Engineering or related field with related skills.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in product development, marketing, sales, channel management or finance with progressively increasing responsibility and a track record of results.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration preferred.
- The individual for this role must bring a passion for success and develop a winning vision for the business segment.
- The ideal candidate has a mix of product marketing experience, solid business acumen and an ability to clearly communicate.
- 20% travel required
